About Resilient Roots Therapy

A place to show up as who you are.

Resilient Roots Therapy provides anti-oppressive, culturally responsive therapy for BIPOC, Queer, Trans, and Non-Binary individuals, people living with visible and invisible disabilities, and people navigating the intersections of identity, culture, relationships, and mental health.

We believe your identity and lived experiences are part of the context of your life — and they belong in the conversation from the beginning.

You deserve to see yourself represented in the spaces you turn to for support.

For many people, finding a therapist involves more than looking at credentials, services, or availability. It can also mean looking for signs that your therapist will understand the experiences you bring.

You may be looking for someone who shares or understands aspects of your racial or cultural identity.

Someone you can talk to about gender or sexuality without having to educate them first.

Someone who recognizes neurodivergence as difference rather than automatically approaching it as a deficit.

At RRT, representation is an important part of the practice we're building.

Our team includes therapists who identify within many of the populations we serve and who may bring their own lived understanding of experiences such as systemic oppression, microaggressions, and racism.

Why Resilient Roots Therapy Exists

Resilient Roots Therapy started with a vision about intersectionality; specifically, my personal intersections with transracial adoption, unearned privilege, Haitian and Canadian roots, heteronormativity, and racial oppression. In all of those narratives and identities, there are stories ranging from adversity to resilience.

Resilience does not have to equate to an innate sense of strength or the societal expectation to “put on a brave face.” I believe that anyone who has lived through or is living through any form of adversity can only be resilient.

Unlearning my own lived experiences and listening to the narratives of others I’ve worked with, even before RRT, has shown me that “resilience” shows up because change happens when there’s hope for something to be better or different. I have the stubborn belief that each person is resilient in their own way.

Adversity doesn’t build resilience; it demands it in the moment!

What You Can Expect From Us

Evidence-Based Approaches That Empower Change

Our therapists draw from approaches including SFBT, IFS, EMDR, DBT, and Gottman Methods, while recognizing that the work doesn’t end when the session does. The therapy room is where we do the work together, but meaningful change takes shape in how you carry that work into your life.

Therapy Built Around You

No two people come to therapy with the same story, needs, or goals. We take the time to understand what matters to you and shape your care accordingly, rather than expecting you to fit into a one-size-fits-all approach.

Therapy That Evolves With You

As you grow, what you need from therapy may change too. We’ll keep checking in, revisit your goals, and adapt along the way. Therapy is here to support your growth — and part of that means recognizing when you’re ready to move forward with greater confidence on your own.

Find Support That Feels Like the Right Fit

Finding the right therapist isn't only about credentials or areas of practice. Connection matters, too.

Your first step at RRT is a 20-minute Discovery Call with our Clinic Coordinator.

We'll learn more about the kind of support you're looking for and help match you with a therapist in the clinic. If you start therapy and realize the fit doesn't feel right, you can come back to us. We'll talk about what wasn't working and help connect you with another therapist who may be a better fit.

Land Acknowledgement

At Resilient Roots Therapy, we believe acknowledgement must be more than words. It requires reflection, ongoing learning, and a commitment to carrying what we learn into how we show up for the people and communities we serve.

RRT’s office is located in London, Ontario, on the traditional lands of the Anishinaabek, Haudenosaunee, Lūnaapéewak and Attawandaron Peoples. We acknowledge the enduring presence, histories, and contributions of Indigenous Peoples on these lands.

Community Acknowledgement

We recognize that systems including colonialism, anti-Black racism, ableism, homophobia, and transphobia continue to shape experiences of mental health and healthcare.

Our commitment to anti-oppressive practice means carrying that understanding into our work through ongoing learning, cultural humility, and care that respects each person’s identity and lived experience.
