Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. RRT offers direct billing to participating insurance providers. Coverage varies by benefits plan, and some plans may cover services provided by registered social workers but not registered psychotherapists, or vice versa. We recommend checking your plan to confirm which practitioner designations are covered and any limits that may apply. If your insurance provider does not cover the full cost of your session, you are responsible for paying the remaining balance.
While we do not offer a sliding scale, we are committed to making therapy accessible. We offer an affordable therapy program based on a 10-session commitment at a reduced rate of $80 per session. Please let us know if you are interested in this program when you book your Discovery Call, and we can discuss if it’s a good fit for your needs.
RRT’s team includes both registered social workers and registered psychotherapists. Both can provide psychotherapy, but their training and scope differ.Registered Social Workers (RSWs) are trained in social work, which considers mental health within the broader context of a person’s relationships, family, community, environment, and the systems that may affect their well-being.Registered Psychotherapists (RPs) are trained specifically in psychotherapy, focusing on assessing and treating emotional, psychological, behavioural, and relationship concerns through therapeutic approaches and interventions. Both work therapeutically with clients and bring their own areas of expertise, approaches, and lived experiences to their practice. The best fit may depend less on whether someone is an RSW or RP and more on their experience with what you’re navigating, their therapeutic approach, and how comfortable you feel working with them.Your insurance plan may cover one designation differently from the other, so we recommend confirming your coverage before booking.
We understand that life can be unpredictable, but because our time is reserved specifically for you, we require at least 48 hours' notice for all cancellations and reschedules. This allows us to offer the time to other clients who may be seeking support.Late Cancellations/Reschedules: Sessions cancelled or rescheduled within 48 hours of your appointment time will be charged 50% of the session fee.Missed Appointments: Appointments that are missed without notice (no-shows) will be charged the full 100% session fee.We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us maintain consistent access to care for everyone in our community.
Your first session is a dedicated space for you and your therapist to get to know one another and explore what brings you to therapy.Together, you’ll talk about what you hope to feel better, different, or more manageable in your life, while covering important foundations like confidentiality, scheduling, session frequency, and what to expect from the process. You don’t need to arrive with all the answers or know exactly where to begin. Your therapist will help guide the conversation and help you find a place to start. If the fit doesn’t feel quite right, that’s okay. Let us know, and we’ll help you explore another RRT therapist who may be a better match.
